TBI COMMUNITY ACTIVITIES @ RRC

TBI RESOURCE CENTER

Our TBI Resource Center has information on education, community resources, legal and financial resources, recreation and independent living. Resource information is available free of charge, and can be accessed toll free by calling (800) 352-1956 (Richard Patterson), or by emailing richard.patterson@hhs.sccgov.org.

The Traumatic Brain Injury Resource Directory (TBIRD) lists hundreds of TBI-related resources in its 25 chapters. The TBIRD is available in print (for a fee) and on-line (for free!). Find out more about the TBIRD at its website at www.tbi-sci/tbird

"BRAIN MATTERS " Community Education Series
Brain Matters is a series of community educational events designed to inform and educate the TBI community, including rehabilitation professionals, individuals with TBI, caregivers, and family members. The mission of Brain Matters is threefold: to promote community awareness of the psychosocial and medical issues associated with brain injury, to provide resources to assist in the rehabilitation and community integration of the affected individual, and to provide support for family members and caregivers in a warm comfortable setting. The topics of future events are derived from feedback of attendees. To find out more about Brain Matters, visit its website at www.tbimatters.org

TBI PEER SUPPORT PROGRAM
Volunteer peer supporters provide support services, TBI resources, and information to individuals with TBI and their families. Many of the peer supporters have had a TBI. They know first hand what it is like dealing with such a serious injury. Support is provided during the rehabilitation process at SCVMC and after participants return home. Community support is also provided through the monthly Mild Brain Injury and Very Important Patient Support Groups. For more information about the program contact Rich Patterson by calling (800) 352-1956, or by emailing richard.patterson@hhs.co.santa-clara.ca.us.
